Wild and Wacky Fishing Technique
On my first foray to Florida to photograph birds I heard that the Reddish Egret had a most interesting fishing technique which I finally experienced at J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida. The technique involved dancing back and forth with pauses to lift one wing and spread it out to cast a shadow on the water while the bird looked for fish moving. It was wonderfully hilarious to watch, but more challenging to photograph!
