Looking Back at the Little Susitna River Valley
I took this landscape the year we came up to Alaska to live. It was just past peak foliage and I'm on the road up to the Independence Gold Mine and looking back Northwest towards the origins of the Little Susitna River and the snow dusted peaks of some of the Talkeetna Mountains. The first snow of the year we call termination dust and it occurs high up on the mountain peaks before gradually, over time, it snows at lower and lower elevations, eventually covering all with that frozen white blanket.
