Mallard flight

This Mallard drake is part of a flock that overwinters in Anchorage. There is very little open water right now at Spenard Crossing, where a small stream of water flows into a small lake and then into Westchester Lagoon. The mallards that stay in that area are kept alive by folks giving them a handout. I stopped by today to see how they were doing and captured this drake flying across the road to join the group on the other side.
