Portrait of a Long-tailed Duck (hen - breeding)
I've finally seen these Long-tailed Ducks in the wild and they are quite spectacular with their patterns, especially the male of course. They certainly aren't as colorful with their whites, browns, and tans as ducks with bold colors, but they are still quite interesting.
I captured this one at the Alaska Sealife Center in Seward. She was doing some washing and preening and gave me this nice pose.
