Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) drake

I was at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center today and there were a large flock of northern pintails on the lake. Being very shy birds they would move away from anyone approaching the lake so you couldn't get close to them. I put my 2X on and used one of the blinds and waited for the birds to move in response to others at the lake. As the birds moved towards the center of the lake I managed to capture an image of this drake. I just love the plumage on these ducks as well as their slender bodies. They are such elegant ducks!
