Artist Inspired--Grade

This image was inspired by Dali's collaboration with Weegee (Arthur Fellig) (www.design-is-fine.org/post/109051786424/weegee-arthur-fe...). I used a timer delay to capture a "part of a person" photo of myself, and used a photo editing program to invert the image and then combine it with the original. Although Dali used a mirror in his image, I wanted to create a more continuous look between the two images so I also created a blur along the seam to make it look like one. I converted the photo to black and white and adjusted the highlights and shadows to create the effect I wanted. This photo is an example of balance, and has a number of curves that make it more visually appealing.

I edited this version using Photoshop to make the hair look more realistic and continuous. I used the patch tool, Liquefy, burn, dodge, sharpen, and the paint tool to create this effect. I also whitened the whites of the eyes, and burned/dodged the eyes to make them stand out more. I chose this photo for my portfolio because I felt it was an interesting photo that I spent a lot of time working on.
