Continuing on my recent tear of CP SD40s, brings us to perhaps my most memorable chase to date. It's the spring of 2020, ballast season is in full swing, and CP has thrown sets of SD40s all over the Watertown Sub. Despite my best efforts I've had a troubled time getting sun on my chases. One May Day my luck changed for the better, while on a break at work, I was notified of a train at the pit with a trio of CP 40s, given the time and the odds stacked against me, I threw it on the back burner. A few hours go by, works done, and said train is at Portage adding a 40 to the trio. A quick check of the forecast and a time to beat in my GPS found me hauling south towards the Dells. Upon arrival a short wait later found the quad tearing out of Kilbourn after meeting one. The chase was on until the light was gone. Looking back now, my only regret was not taking the chance more often. 6017 has been repainted into the beaver scheme, though given PTC so the odds of seeing it leading a ballast train aren't entirely off the table
