Pearly Leafwing? (Costa Rica) DSC_5731
This little beauty was spotted along a trail in Santa Elena. I was glad that he stopped for a moment and just in time too. The wasp in the image seemed to have bad intentions as I observed him tracking this this guy. When he landed, the wasp flew on by.
I have seen the tracking behavior by wasps in my yard and learned that they do indeed kill adult butterflies and moths, not just the caterpillars and not just the freshly hatched ones that can't fly yet.
Anyway, I have tried to find information about this little beauty. However, I am coming up short. If you happen to know what this one is for sure I'd appreciate an ID and maybe a link to a website that has good information about it.
ID assits appreciated, butterfly or moth?
Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.
