Felix (Catbird) DSC_6499

Felix spends most of his time during his visits hanging out in the densely covered areas of the yard. There are plenty of options along the fence and beneath the oak trees. He is quick so it's not always easy to get a good look at him as he travels from area to area. But you can tell he is around when he starts making his cat in distress call. I believe there are two catbirds hanging out by the sound of it, but I have yet to see more than one at a time.

Felix enjoys a large variety of seeds and berries from the yard and he will visit the feeding stations in order to grab a mealworm on occasion. In this image he thinks he is hiding among the Crepe Myrtle branches. Crepe Myrtles are deciduous so technically they don't provide the best cover during the winter season. However, they do have seeds which many of the birds, including Felix seem to enjoy. Apparently, the seeds like the mealworms are worth the risk of leaving the densely covered areas.

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday and happy snapping.
