Copulating Rattlers

While exploring an old mining operation I chanced upon this pair of Black-tail rattlesnakes in copulation. I didn't expect rattlers this early in the Spring and was probably saved by their being "otherwise occupied." One headed toward the den in the background while the other headed toward me!
