Mullein - An Indigenous Healer/M. Rajapakse
Mary's comments: Mullein – This is a well known Indigenous remedy for various ailments .
I suffered an Achilles Tendon Rupture some 10 yrs ago, and after surgery, to fix the body, I went to see a Traditional Healer at Chigamik Community Health Centre, to ‘fix my soul so to speak, as this injury was a very traumatic experience for me, in more than one way.
The Indigenous Healer – a well known Medicine Man – advised me to use two large Mullein leaves, place it on my ankle- leg, and tie it up with a bandage, after applying the Medicine balm (Minigun as we call it) on the leg.
I did this – but unfortunately, I got an allergic reaction to the leaves ( itching +++ ) perhaps due to the ‘fuzz’ on the leaves, and I had to sadly discontinue it. But this is not to say, it is not a good therapy, as others have had good results .
It took me back to a time in Srilanka, when we would see an Ayurvedic Medicine Man, for minor ailments, before we see a Western Doctor!
