Photo #2

Objective 3: Composition Techniques

2. Perspective and depth

3. Fill the Frame

5. Leading Lines

6. Pattern

7. Texture

10. Diagonals

The photo has depth because as your eyes follow down the net it appears to get smaller. It fills the frame on the net on the left side where your eyes start. The photo has leading lines because your eyes follow the tape and the rope on the net. The repetition of the holes and knots on the net create pattern. The small knots on the net create texture. The tape on the net swoops down to the right creating a diagonal.

Objective 4: Lighting

The photo uses natural lighting from the side. It is soft lighting because there are no harsh shadows on the ground, this helps to keep the focus on the net.

Objective 5: Post Production

The photo has been spot healed, sharpened, converted to black and white and resized.

Objective 6: Critique

Strength: getting many different composition techniques in one shot.

Area for growth: aiming to get less of the unnecessary background out of the photo because it creates a distraction.
