Arndale - 46 Henley Road, Sandford-on-Thames, Oxfordshire OX4 4YP 1990
This is an earlier photo (by a year or so) of this garage than the one I had previously posted. It is clearly summer here and probably the school holidays and a much more lively scene than the rather staid image posted back in 2021 of the garage in about 1991. The kids with their bikes, the Land Rover recovery vehicle and the Austin Allegro for sale all add to the scene although at I think £450 that the Allegro is over-priced!
The garage here still exists but has been radically transformed and not for the better. All the charm has gone, like the steps leading past the pole sign, the entire grass area, the pumps and pole sign and the tree have all made way for a forecourt that is now packed with second hand cars. At least the building is unchanged. All these changes happened before the first Streetview shot was taken. Back here the garage was under the ownership of R Anniss & Son but in the present day it is TJ Hall & Son Ltd.
