Former Petrol Station - Meadway, Southgate, North London N14 6NH 5
Just now and again I find an old garage that for one reason or another seems that bit more interesting or remarkable. This is one such place. Clearly it hasn't sold petrol for a long time, but for such a charming little back street garage to still be there in the present day in any part of London seems quite amazing. Of course I'd love to see a photo of this garage from some time back when it was selling petrol and carrying some more branding, Instinctively, from the look of the old pumps still standing, certain brands seem more likely to have been sold here than others. Esso is the one that most springs to mind, but the style of the premises also makes me think that National could have been sold here. It's all speculation, I don't really know. I also wonder when petrol sales actually ended, it must have been a fair time back, maybe even into the end of the previous century. Certainly the pole sign still standing looks to have had a price board and the sign enclosure is of a 1980s/1990s style. If anyone can tell me more about this garage I'd love to know more of its history.
