Mobil - Evenlode Filling Station, Eynsham, Oxfordshire 24th October 1983
This is quite a retro scene, even for the date it was taken. Certainly the pumps look way out of date for early to mid 1980s, the Renault 5 already looks pretty tired, and even the chap filling up probably had his best days behind him! I'm guessing that this would have been on the A40 somewhere near the Evenlode public house and Evenlode Farm, but where exactly is open to speculation. There is an Esso service station relatively nearby which could be where this was, but I think probably not. That place is next door to the Kingsley Cafe and I would have thought that this one would have been really close to the Evenlode, given its name. Anyone out there know?
