Independent - Smithy View Service Station, Chester Road, Wrexham, Wales LL12 8DY 2
This has been an independent service station throughout Streetview and for probably a fair bit longer than that. The livery had seen a major overhaul sometime between 2018 and 2021, up to then it had been really colourful, almost overdoing it really. That era was captured by Richard in 2012. Looking at his image I do wonder if once the site had been Shell branded by the dimensions of the pole sign. Here in 2024, the pole sign now carries a digital display price board and the livery has been toned down compared to the earlier bright orange, although some orange still makes up the design. All the pumps have been replaced since Richard's photo was taken, that seems to have happened really quite recently, between 2022 and 2023. In between Richard's early shot, when the pumps had a definite theme for the livery, it got a bit more scruffy as various pumps were replaced, one with a really new model, one a second hand Gilbarco in blue that didn't match at all!
Interesting to see in one of the earlier Streetviews that the garage was being supplied by Newt Oils as far back as 2011. A more recent one shows it being supplied by a Standard tanker with a Manchester phone number given.
