Last time I passed by here, in 2017, this was an independent site. Prior to that it was branded Local, but not the Local found in Sussex, this one was seemingly a one off and totally separate. Wonderfully, Dan Lockton has an image of it when branded Local. In my 2017 image it was pretty clear that the pole sign at the site had once been a Butler sign, but looking at Dan's image from 2001, it was a different sign then so if there was a Butler period it was short lived.
Below you can see my 2017 photo when independent, Dan Lockton's image from 2001 when it was branded Local, and one from Seanusmaximus from 2010 when also branded Local. That in itself suggests that the later pole sign with Butler remnants was probably brought in second hand.
