BP - Newport Road, Cosford, Shropshire WV7 3NA

Cosford is best known for the RAF base here, the main site of which is pretty much opposite this service area. It's changed an awful lot over the years here, in more recent times there was a change of brand from Esso to BP about five years ago. Earlier still there was a radical transformation of the entire site from a more understated traditional repair garage with forecourt to a large modern service area with shops and so on. Back in that era the garage was branded Butler, and even then it had been considerably transformed from the 1960s when it was branded Regent and there wasn't even a canopy. It was pretty much just some pumps outside someone's house! given it was a Regent site in the 1960s one can presume there was a fair chance it was Texaco branded for a while in the late 1960s and into the 1970s.

In the Butler era the site was changed on at least one occasion, the canopy being massively extended in the later 1990s. In many ways it was a shame that the original house where it began hasn't survived but I suppose that is "progress!" The caravan outlet next door has been there since the 1980s without interruption.

Below a timeline from oldest to newest starting with the Regent era.
