Shell - Post Office and Stores, Withyham, Hartfield, East Sussex TN7 4BD
This postcard shows us that the garage here was once also the local post office and stores. The sign for the Dorset Arms is prominent but one doesn't actually see the pub. The house and garage in the image are opposite the pub, in the tiny hamlet of Withyham. Amazingly the garage survives to the present day, although fuel sales ended much earlier. A while back it was Rosneath Engineering and Ferrari specialists, which is in itself a bit specialist! The most recent Streetview shows the site to have expanded, about ten years ago, and is now called Valoroso Race and Restoration Services. The 2011 Streetview is the best to view showing several exotic cars outside incliding two Ferraris. I guess if one is going to have such expensive cars around its best to be in a very quiet village well off the beaten track!
