Mobil - City Motors, 152 London Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 9ED circa 1983
This is a much more modern photo of City Motors in London Road, Headington than those I have previously posted. Here it can easily be seen that the premises were radically altered sometime in the 1970s, with the original glass fronted and elegant building replaced with a much more utilitarian, modern and let's face it ugly building. There's no firm date with this image but the price of petrol suggests a year of approximately 1983.
You can see it as it looked in both 1959 and 1968 below.
The garage here did not last, the premises is now just a Co-op supermarket.
