Former Petrol Station and Asda Express - Burton Road, Finedon, Northamptonshire NN9 5HX
Two forecourts here opposite each other, one still operating and one long since stopped selling petrol. The Asda Express was until very recently of course a Co-op group site, the other looks like former Elf or Q8 site, or just possibly Pace. What is now the Asda Express had been a Shell site before it closed down completely and the site was abandoned for some time meaning there were two abandoned sites opposite each other for a number of years. The former Shell site was resurrected by Co-op just three years ago so it was a short lived branding before Asda took over, the other site had been abandoned to being a hand car wash for at least the last fifteen years and maybe even twenty or twenty five. One can see that two petrol stations were never going to survive here opposite each other but for both to have been inactive for a long period is more of a surprise, given they were the only two in this area.
