Esso - Sutterton Roundabout, Sutterton, Lincolnshire PE20 2LF 1
Sutterton roundabout is one of those rare places, but not unique, where there are three separate service areas around the one junction. It was rather more interesting a few years ago when this now Esso diesel only, lorries only service area was briefly branded Inver. Inver is a brand mostly known in Ireland but has had just the odd outlet in the mainland UK. Luckily Richard did pass by this one when it was branded Inver and got a photo of it - see below. The only other Inver site in England I know of is in Welford, Northamptonshire, and that might not be Inver branded now as its previous and equally rare brand, ST1, only lasted a couple of years!
Both the Esso service area for lorries here, and the Shell service area next door for cars, we both recently built, about five years ago, and the Inver era seems to have only lasted for about two years before the change to Esso.
In Richard's photo you can see the proximity of this Esso site to the adjacent Shell. Streetview has views of this site as Inver from both 2021 and 2022.
