Independent - Alford Road, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire LN12 2RL 1
This is an interesting site with its open forecourt and sparse arrangement of pumps. It had been branded Carlton Fuels up to about five years ago but then became an extremely rare Certas Energy branded site. In fact it may have been the only one yet seen apart from HGV re-fuelling sites. That era didn't last long though as in these images we can see the branding has been removed and a plain black panel is now where the Certas Energy logo was. It's hard to work out why this site was different to all the others, why it wasn't branded Gulf, Pace or Power instead. It might be due to a specific supply contract, perhaps slightly better terms were offered for not wanting such extensive branding, or it may be the garage owner wanted to give more of a sign of independence. Clearly the site is now fully independent, at least for the time being.
I do wonder if this Certas Energy branding briefly seen here might end up being as rare as say Van Molen or ST1 which were both only seen at a handful of sites before disappearing, but only time will tell.
It was late when I got here so as with some of the other sites posted lately, I went back the next morning and took another photo; it shows just how busy this forecourt is during the day! However the night-time photos with an empty forecourt reveal some details that could not be seen the following morning.
