Here's a nice period image of a BP pole sign taken at the Coldharbour Service Station in 1984. The petrol station no longer exists, it was demolished quite some time back and certainly before Streetview first took an image. In the present day it is a hand car wash site. That normally means site contamination as a reason why no redevelopment has taken place, but I don't know for sure.
