Total - Petropolis, Witney Service Station, Welch Way, Witney, Oxfordshire OX28 6JL 19th Feb 1983 Carwash
Here we see a small but key section of the Witney Service Station, namely the "Super Wash" Carwash, and there's a BMW 2002 parked adjacent. You can apparently get a wash and wax and indeed "take a dip with Desmond" who is clearly a duck, anyone know anything about that advertising campaign?!
I don't know the context of why this photo was taken but there can be few images of this quality of an older carwash system like this around.
As we can see, it was a Total Petropolis site at this time too, it stayed as a Total right up to at least 2010, maybe even another year or two after that, but it is now a Shell site. I think the carwash has remained in the same position right up to the present day. Below you can see it as the Shell site it now is, along with a photo from Chris Greene showing the site as Total in 2004. In both images you can see the carwash.
