BP - Solway Park, Southerness on Solway, Dumfries, Scotland 1970s 2

Here we see Captain Kirk has just teleported down into Solway Park, Southerness, in the early 1970s. I'm not sure if the Vauxhall Viva is there to pick him up or not, but it's a far cry from the USS Enterprise. One can't really see him calling in at the shop opposite for a beach ball and a bucket and spade. He's no doubt got far more important things to do, like working out how he ended up here for starters.

I've posted a post card of this place before, but that view was slightly different although in much the same era, and the BP pumps were in the bottom left corner rather than the bottom right - see below. Funnily enough Captain Kirk wasn't in that other image.

Of course the petrol station didn't last, almost no holiday parks still have their own petrol stations but a handful do still have one just outside the main entrance. It looks like the small forecourt made way for more seating for people to drink beer!
