Esso - Litchfield Garage, 377 Nottingham Road, Mansfield NG18 4SG circa 1960 2
Thanks to the good folk on Facebook I now know where this was. Someone else posted this image from its original Ebay listing and knew quite a bit about the site. Berisford Jones said about the site "The site is now a Tesco Express, still Esso. It's been rebuilt a few times in my memory, not least in 1964 when it became Dukeries Service Station selling Agip Italian fuel, the fire breathing 6 legged dog." First of all it's interesting to know this site had a spell as an Agip outlet but in addition, most if not all of the UK Agip images I have seen seem to have been from this part of the country. Clearly the garage returned to Esso at some point but exactly when isn't known but certainly before the first Streetview was taken. Plenty of interesting cars on show, the most modern looking is the Triumph TR3 which means this photo can't be earlier than 1955 but I think 1960 is more likely.
