Former Petrol Station - Half Moon Vlg, Newton St Cyres, Devon EX5 5AE

Here's another former petrol station a few miles outside Crediton. This one I am certain of due to the layout of the site. Again it seems likely that it hasn't been a petrol outlet for a long time, maybe as far back as the 1980s, but the architecture is again right for a 1930s build. The front section of the building has been filled with glass but one can just imagine a neat row of pumps along the front edge of it some time back in the past. After a fruitless Google search of course Flickr turns up an item from Dan Lockton which makes it clear this was an Esso site way back - see below. In the text with his image he references the older sign from the earliest Streetview in yellow, looking like an old petrol pole sign, but the shape of the lightbox is very unusual so it's hard to think of a brand that might have fitted that. Dan says the same with his image.
