Former Petrol Station - Exeter Road, Braunton, Devon

Amazingly last time I came through here I didn't even notice this place which was blatantly a petrol station in the past. The architecture is wonderful in a 1930s period style with the canopy acting also as a balcony, not dis-similar to the one in Winkleigh posted a while back. Even a pole sign still stands. I found a very old image of this place from 1936 showing a row of pumps on this forecourt in the style one would have expected for the era, Shell, Esso, Redline and National Benzole on sale, maybe another brand or two as well.

From Streetview it would appear the garage was still operating under the same name, Braunton Garage, it's on the pole sign in the 2008 and 2010 views. The main building has had other uses in that time, a surfing supplies outlet, later a media shop and now Braunton Mobility.
