Former Petrol Station - Hilltop Services, Nr Yarcombe, Honiton, Devon EX14 9EB 3
What an amazing place this turned out to be. Yes petrol sales ended a long time ago, just, I think, an original pole sign still standing but modified - been thinking about what brand it might once have displayed but nothing obvious. By shape, and this would be a long shot, it most looks like a GT frame but that would mean no petrol sales here for about forty years at least! I'm hoping Dan Lockton can help out with some more history.
It's all the amazing American cars across the forecourt - something they specialise in. Plenty of Ford Mustangs in at this time, there were other models but I'm not up to identifying them! On their website there's an image showing a foreocurt with pumps and a gullwing canopy and one of the pumps says Hilltop Yarcombe on it but I think it's a mock up/amended as the pay phone in the foreground looks American to me.

No signs of any old vent pipes on the site but that's not conclusive proof that petrol wasn't ever sold here, the pole sign is, I think, a better indicator that it was. One way or another I'd love to know more history of this place! Here's a close up of one of those lovely Ford Mustangs!
