Former Petrol Station - Hand Car Wash, North Street, Crewkerne, Somerset 2

Literally unchanged since my last visit, well, the paintwork has faded a little. This was in the early 1970s a Cleveland site which changed to Esso as they all did around 1973/74. It remained an Esso for the next twenty years or so, was then a Texaco (see listing below) and then seemingly became an independent with the most minimalist of logos - see my 1999 photo below. As you can see, a whole bunch of new houses have been built since 1999 just beyond the site where the second had cars used to be sold. It's all a far cry from the summer holidays I used to spend here in the 1970s when it was a thriving garage and I'd go over there to buy sweets. I wish I had a photo of it from that era but I was too young to have my own camera and didn't have the nerve to ask my dad to take a photo of it! Streetview shows us that the "petrol" sign lasted until at least 2011 and the new houses were built between 2009 and 2011.
