Esso - Henlys, Parkway Filling Station, Wythenshawe, Manchester late 1950s
I believe this lovely garage disappeared when the Princess Parkway was widened into a major trunk route through Manchester - I don't even know if it was called Princess Parkway until that happened but it seems likely given the filling station was called Parkway. This is a later shot showing it now as a solus Esso site operated by Henlys rather close up to the building. Manchester Archives has a better quality shot from further away from a little later on with the Esso pole sign we'd all recognise by then erected - see below. I also have a colourised print from earlier still, pre-war and when selling a variety of brands - that is also below.
Difficult to show the same view in the present day as it has changed so much, I think it was roughly where the junction of Sale Road and Wythenshwe Road is.
