Shell - Frank Dye Ltd, 73 Norwich Road, Watton, Thetford, Norfolk IP25 6DH 6th April 1992 2
All the evidence points to this address being correct, the site now occupied by H Brett Stonemasons, but nagging away in the back of my mind is that the forecourt now just doesn't look quite big enough to have accommodated what we see in this image. A little further along the road we see some modern buildings and I think it was here that the fuel forecourt was - there are a couple of older houses in between but they do appear to be herein the other photo just beyond the end of the site. It may well be that the houses were between the showrooms and the fuel forecourt as the stonemasons premises do look like they were once a car showroom. Spottedlaurel came to the same conclusions as I have - see here

Unfortunately the EDP article he links to now only shows the one image rather than the full gallery. I suspect these images i am posting today, one of them was used in that article. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't now have all the photos used in that article in my collection!
Shell petrol and a Ford dealership in this era, certainly the garage went way back to the 1930s at this location and there are references to it having been on the corner of Norwich Road and Church Road. I think the original fuel sales probably were made closer to Church Road and a newer forecourt was built later on to modernise the site.
