Burmah - Kettlewell, North Yorkshire BD23 5QZ 6

Finally I made it back to this wonderful retro site in Kettlewell some eight years after my only previous photo was taken. So pleased to find it looking mostly exactly the same, the pumps have changed colour since I was last here, then they were red and green, now blue. It's one of only two places in the country where the Burmah logo is still visible, the other is in West Wellow in Hampshire - plus of course the adapted old Burmah sign in Kesgrave just outside Ipswich.

These days there is a car park situated behind the garage but if we go back in time far enough the garage once stood fractionally separated from all other parts of the village and was Shell branded - see older image below. For a while the Burmah logo had a Thrust sticker covering over the Burmah name and that era can be seen in Dan Lockton's image - also below.

I have to say the Burmah logo looks great, impressively well preserved and amazing really given it is more or less south facing. The tyres repurposed as plant tubs are great and so is the sign with all the symbols to the right of the garage front. Overall this site is a delight and one of the very best I have given a photoshoot to.
