Some more photos of this place surfaced and now the full history of the site can be worked out. I believe this set of photos were taken when a new additional diesel only forecourt had been added to the site adjacent to the existing one. For some time I had wondered why there had been two separate canopies and whether they were rival forecourts or all part of the same site and now it's clear they were all part of the same site. Both canopies survived up to close to the present day but between 2018 and 2019 the entire site was demolished as can be seen on Streetview. Nothing has happened subsequently, the site is still empty and grass is slowly taking over, no doubt followed by weeds and more clearing before the next chapter here can be written.
