Former Petrol Station - Roy Humphrey Vargas, Victoria Road, Diss, Norfolk 2
This was clearly a petrol station some time back but certainly before Streetview came along. All of the earlier shots show a busy forecourt full of cars but the most recent, like this photo, show an empty forecourt as if the business has closed. Given it was a Thursday it seems likely. No clues really as to past history although the totem still standing looks quite like a BP one by shape. The Texaco directory I just uploaded a couple of days ago mentions a Texaco site at 17 Victoria Road but that would have been slightly further out of Diss than here, possibly where Desira MG Fiat and Citroen is now.
Spottedlaurel mentioned a former Broadland Fuels site in Diss, not sure if it was this place but I think not due to the shape of the totem. However a quck search reveals that Dan Lockton did indeed photograph this site in 2001 and it was the Broadland Fuels site. Not sure how the totem came to be the shape it is but perhaps Roy Humphrey Vargas had one specially made up or converted.
Below you can see Dan's photo - here's the Streetview showing the site when still fuill of cars.
