Former Petrol Station - Dane End, Hertfordshire 5

This former garage is almost famous and is much photographed over the years. It has also featured in period dramas including Grantchester and Foyle's War. In Grantchester it was re-made into a BP site and in Foyle's war it was branded National. More recently in history but well before the TV dramas were being made it was also branded Ultramar when still a working garage. One can see the evidence of its BP branding when closely examining the old pumps where the paintwork has blistered. The pumps have been moved since it was a working garage, they used to be further out from the building and further to the left. You can see them as they were on a photo on Sabre in an article about the petrol station here www.sabre-roads.org.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Petrol_station

The Little Munden history site shows it done up as a BP for the TV series Grantchester here

I do have saved images of it as a working garage as both BP and Ultramar but they aren't my photos so can't share them here sadly. The earliest Streetview shot shows the garage before renovation and with a for sale sign up when the pumps were in their original position.

Here's a close up of the blistered paintwork on one of the pumps clearly showing its past in the livery of BP.
