Empson's garage nearly made it to the present day, up until maybe fifteen years ago they were still serving fuel and only maybe three years ago the pole sign was removed although the pumps are still there. One of the entrances has been blocked off but the garage still appears to be doing some work. For much of its last years it was a Phoenix branded site but as we can see here in 1989 it was branded Arndale. You can see it much more recently as Phoenix below and then later still when that branding had been removed.
