Texaco - Ace Corner, North Circular Road, London NW10 7UD 1976

The very well known Ace Cafe was once a real landmark at this location up to the end of the 1960's on the old North Circular road. When it closed the site was redeveloped into the Texaco petrol station you see here. Much later on after this photo was taken, in 1997 the cafe re-opened with petrol sales having ended some time earlier. The cafe had in fact already had one sort of re-birth after it was re-built in 1949 after an air raid in WW2 had caused some damage to the building. There are lots of photos of this place from across the years but mostly from either before the cafe closed in 1969 or since its re-opening but this is the first photo I have seen of it between those two eras. The cafe now has its own website of course london.acecafe.com/ and a wikipedia article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_Cafe Here's the same view in close to the present day www.google.com/maps/@51.5406993,-0.2778693,3a,75y,351.25h...
