Multiple Brands - The Street, Hatfield Peverel, Essex 1950's

From the days when the A12 went through Hatfield Peverel rather than on a bypass as it is now. That event may well have signalled the end for the petrol sales here but in the 1950's I'm sure it got plenty of passing trade. One of the pumps is branded Fina, can tell from the shape of the pump globe and the logo on it so that alone dates this photo to the second half of the 1950's at the very earliest. It's a shame it's quite so far in the distance - the same view today is little changed, the Duke of Wellington pub bears the same name today and all the buildings are the same - even the tree on the left is largely the same size and shape! The garage still exists today but is now "Europit Tyres" www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.7774282,0.5996704,3a,75y,239.47...
