Pool/Esso - Leek, Staffordshire 1940s

A pretty rare image of a Pool site from the second world war era although clearly branded Esso before that. All petrol was branded Pool from the outbreak of war in 1939 through to the end of rationing and beyond - petrol branding only reappeared in 1953. I would guess this photo dates from the 1940s - even for that era the pumps are rather old fashioned. Finding the same location today would be nigh on impossible, the photo was listed as being in Leek, Staffordshire and I have no reason to argue with that.
