Shell - Eastgate and Headrow, Leeds, 1950s

This scene has changed rather a lot! The roundabout is still there - building too but all signs of a petrol station long gone and rightly so - it would be a mad place to have one with today's traffic! A lot of the buildings to the left have been razed to the ground and massive new blocks built instead. It's a lovely photo showing Leeds at a time just before all the awful 1960's development projects that have ruined many of our city centres. www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.7984315,-1.535469,3a,75y,286.11...
