Multiple Brands - Lambs Ltd, Southend Road, Woodford, North East London late 1930's
This area has changed so much since the picture was taken it took me a while to find the exact location. Even now I can't be totally certain but it is approximately here possibly where the Tesco is now www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.5929866,0.0405066,3a,75y,157.88... I found all sorts of other information about the place. Stephen Weblin's excellent blog gives it plenty of information here vitessesteve.blogspot.com/2016/07/lambs-ltd-of-woodford-g... and I also found a (sadly silent) old Pathe newsreel about the precise area and in the film one can at times see the original site (eg at 1 min 45 in) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rpb5kjLMfg Here in the picture I've posted the garage sells a variety of brands including Esso, Redline, Cleveland and Shell, maybe a couple of others as well. In Stephen's blog it shows a later photo fully branded as Shell - and we can see in the YouTube video a Shell totem standing outside the garage. Today there is still a Shell petrol station in the area but it is the other side of the road and therefore probably totally unconnected.
