Shell - Ace Garage, Great West Road, Hounslow, London 1928
This is a simply magnificent photo. If, as the card suggests, this is from 1928 then this immediately becomes the oldest photo I've yet posted. The garage is selling Shell petrol but the sign is for the Ace Motor Company. There's a beautiful old style directions road sign central and a lovely old streetlight in the middle of the road which is the A4. Just two cars and a motorcycle with sidecar suggests a quiet time of day - even for that era.
