Gainsborough and Shell - Haywards Garage, Girton, Cambridgeshire 1960's Combined

Here's another example of better photos of a garage I had already posted turning up. Combining the two individual photos into this one big picture didn't actually take that long. It shows the rarely seen Gainsborough pump globes as well as some with Shell. The globes on the pillars at the garage entrance was a common sight up to the 1960's but soon after both the pillar globes and pump globes had pretty much disappeared altogether. It's a shame that the totem isn't any more visible but if it was the same as it was in the other photo I have then not actually that exciting! To complete the scene a few nice cars and vans occupy the forecourt - I think an early Transit and a Cortina Estate but as ever I am happy to be corrected!

The garage is in the present day a BP branded site having been Mobil and Q8 between this photo and the present day - it may have been other brands too.
