Double the Trouble

I've been taking photos of storms for over five years now, and something I've always dreamed of capturing was finally achieved last evening. After chasing a nice cluster of thunderstorms earlier in the afternoon, I ended up sitting just outside Mont Alto, Pennsylvania as these storms began to die, putting on one of the most dramatic sunsets I have ever seen in my life. A beautiful double rainbow showed up as the sun began to set, and upon arrival of the backside of this storm, FLASH! There was lightning! I quickly set my settings as slow as I could get them, my finger on the shutter as I sit and wait hoping to snag a bolt. Half an hour later and sitting in the same position, missing bolt after bolt, and as the golden skies turned into a blood red, my hope was vanishing just as quickly as the double were. All of a sudden, the skies opened up and a beautiful anvil crawler come shooting out from this high based beauty. A day later, and I'm still in utter shock that I captured something so surreal. I hope you enjoy!
