Storm's Departure
After witnessing a beautiful lp supercell earlier in the afternoon over the Thunder Basin National Grasslands, a small cumulus tower began to explode upwards just outside of Douglas, Wyoming. I decided to head down south to see what this storm would do before ending the chase day, as it was high based and other storms were either in unchaseable areas or beginning to die out. I managed to find a little dirt road that made for a great viewing area, this storm slowly tracking north-east into the distance and moving over an area with absolutely no roads. Beautiful white streaks began cascading down from this storm's base, a rainbow beginning to appear as the sun reflected off the giant hail that this storm was producing. It's sights like these that are truly astonishing, watching mother nature work her magic as she goes on about her day without a care in the world. Sometimes we all get too caught up in the endless amounts of problems that we have in our lives that seem to be overwhelming, forgetting about the beauty that sits there right in front of us. This is why I chase storms. It's not about viewing something absolutely historic, nor is it about getting the adrenaline pumping. To me, storms are the most incredible things on this planet that we call home, and these things of beauty are the only real thing that I'm incredibly passionate about. They give me pure happiness, and they make me forget about everything that is going on in my life. I can't wait to be out on the road and doing what I love to do. Hope you enjoy!
