Lothian 1 on route 2 exits Morrison Street, Edinburgh
Central Garage based number 1 in the Lothian fleet was captured exiting Morrison Street at Lothian Road while it was working route 2 from Hermiston Gait to The Jewel - one of the few Lothian services that does not use Princes Street. The buildings on the left occupy the site of Port Hopetoun, the basin at the end of the Union Canal until the 1920s when it was infilled and the waterway was cut back to the south side of Fountainbridge. In the far distance, the modern offices of Scottish Widows occupy another infilled canal basin, Port Hamilton.
