Route diverted! Lothian 1081 in McDonald Road, Edinburgh.
During a two week closure of Pilrig Street for road surfacing, the number 11 route is being diverted via McDonald Road and Broughton Road. Here Lothian 1081 is seem heading for the city centre and Kaimes (currently standing in for the route’s usual southern terminus at Hyvots Bank because of road works). The building behind the two pedestrians dates from 1898 and was a printing works and later a publishers’ bookbinders. It has now all been converted to modern offices. McDonald Road is named after Sir Andrew McDonald (1836-1919) who was Lord Provost between 1894 and 1897. These buses started entering service with Lothian in March 2019.
