New service 61 between Edinburgh city centre at St. Andrew Square Bus Station and Riccarton Campus and Currie was introduced jointly by Eastern Scottish and Lothian Region Transport on 25 September 1978. Riccarton was developing as the new Edinburgh campus of Heriot-Watt University. Its move there was gradual and wasn’t completed until 1992.
